SST 520 Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Systemic Change
This course focuses on systemic change and fostering social entrepreneurship and innovation as pathways for addressing complex societal and environmental challenges. It equips students with interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches necessary for transformational change across the social, environmental, and economic dimensions of sustainability.
Aligned with the broader MAST programme objectives, the course prepares students to become interactional experts capable of bridging disciplines, sectors, organizations, and stakeholder communities. Through systems thinking, collaborative design, and innovation-oriented methodologies, students will explore how organizations and social entrepreneurs collaborate to drive change under conditions of uncertainty and complexity.
The module also explores how organizations and social enterprises innovate business and governance models to create social and environmental value while balancing tensions between mission, scale, financial sustainability, and impact. Through real-world case studies, workshops, and collaborative project-based learning, students will develop competencies in assessing leadership, social innovation, partnership building, and impact strategy.
