Dissertation
The dissertation must be independently written, original research that meets academic standards, advances academic knowledge, and complies with discipline-specific regulations.
The dissertation must not have been published or submitted for publication in whole or in part in another doctoral procedure.
It must be written in English unless an exception is approved.
The Doctoral Committee appoints two reviewers (usually supervisors). An external reviewer is permitted. These reviewers submit expert reports as part of the evaluation process for the dissertation.
A dissertation must be assessed as sufficient before the defense can be scheduled. If a dissertation is assessed as insufficient, it may be revised and resubmitted within a deadline set by the Doctoral Committee. If a revised dissertation is again assessed as insufficient, it is definitively rejected.
Inspection Period: The Dissertation and reviews will be made available for review by the full Franklin faculty for four weeks. Comments will be accepted within three days after the review window closes.
