POL 312 Leadership in the 21st Century: Influence and Power across Sectors
What makes someone a leader, and why do some succeed while others fail? This course introduces students to leadership as a social and strategic phenomenon, examining how individuals exercise influence across business, politics, and society. Drawing on insights from political science, sociology, psychology, and management, students will explore how leaders emerge, how they navigate power and conflict, and how leadership is shaped by culture, gender, ethics, and digital transformation.
Through case studies, discussions, and individual research, students will critically evaluate leadership across sectors, from CEOs and political figures to activists and entrepreneurs. This course equips students with analytical tools to assess leadership styles, communication strategies, and decision-making processes in a variety of professional contexts.
